Western Water is committed to maximising the beneficial use of recycled water to preserve our drinking water supplies in response to climate change and the availability of water for future generations. Using recycled water for approved agricultural purposes significantly reduces the demand placed on our precious drinking water supplies.
Approved agricultural uses of recycled water currently include*:

Irrigation of human food crops grown over a meter above the ground and eaten raw for example: apples, pears & table grapes. |
| Human food crops cooked or processed before sale to consumers for example: wheat, wine grapes & olives. |
| Irrigation of pasture and fodder for some grazing animals including sheep, goats and horses. |
