Gisborne Recycled Water Plant Upgrade

Western Water is planning to upgrade the Recycled Water Plant to improve the quality of the recycled water.

Project snapshot

Town(s): Gisborne, Macedon, New Gisborne,

Status: Planning

Cost: $1.4M

Expected Completion Date: Late 2017

The plant treats wastewater from Gisborne, New Gisborne and Macedon townships.

What will the works involve?

The upgrade will include the installation of a filtration system and a UV disinfection system.

The filter system being installed is a disk filter that passes water through rotating plastic rings.

This upgrade will ensure a consistent reduction in the number of bacteria (E.coli) and protozoa in the recycled water reused by customers and discharged to Jacksons Creek.

When will the works take place?

Our contractor is expected to be onsite early to mid-2017. We aim to complete our work (weather permitting) by late 2017.
