Rockbank North Sewer Main

We’re constructing a new sewer main to transfer sewage from the Woodlea Estate to our pump station in Rockbank.

Project snapshot

Town(s): Rockbank,

Status: Complete

Cost: $2.4 million

Expected Completion Date: February 2017

This essential sewer infrastructure project is part of Western Water’s preparation for rapid residential development and population growth in North Rockbank.

Why is this project needed?

This new sewer main is needed to ensure we can provide quality sewerage services to the first 2500 lots in the Woodlea Estate development in Rockbank North.

Once complete, it will transfer sewage from the estate to our sewer pump station in Rockbank, and then on to the Melton Recycled Water Plant for treatment.

What will the works involve?

We’ll be constructing 2.7km of 300mm, 375mm and 450mm diameter sewer main through the Woodlea Estate.

Using a boring machine, we’ll tunnel 8m deep under the Western Freeway until the sewer main connects to Western Water’s pump station in Rockbank.

When will the works take place?

Our contractor is due on site in October 2015. This project is expected to be completed in early 2017.

Working hours?

Our working hours are 7.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday, and Saturday’s 8.00am to 1.00pm.

How will I be affected?

Traffic – you may notice construction traffic (particularly as we set-up the work site) on the service road alongside the Western Freeway. For your safety, and that of our team, traffic management will be in place.

Noise, dust, vibrations – during the daytime you might hear construction noise, feel vibrations and see dust coming from our site.

Visual – you can expect to see excavation work at the site. For safety, fencing, barricades and trench covers may be used. Our contractor will also establish a storage area at the site for equipment and construction materials..

Will there be interruptions to my water or sewerage service?

We don’t anticipate any interruption to your services during the course of our work.
