Diggers Rest sewer main under way

8 November 2017

Work has begun on a $1 million sewer main in Diggers Rest to cater to population growth, as part of Western Water’s capital investment program.

The 830m-long main is under construction at Bloomdale Estate, west of Diggers Rest township.

Western Water’s General Manager, Customer and Community Relations, Graham Holt, says it’s essential that new residents have high quality water and sewer services in place.

“With the population of Diggers Rest expected to almost double in the next ten years, we need to be ready to provide that service,” Mr Holt says.

“This year we completed a $600,000 drinking water main in Diggers Rest.

“We are also upgrading the Sunbury Recycled Water Plant to increase its capacity to treat the increasing flow of sewage from population growth in Sunbury and Diggers Rest.”

Western Water is planning to begin construction next year on another sewer main on the Diggers Rest-Coimadai Road that will connect with the Bloomdale sewer main.
