Recycled water main burst

4 April 2017

A burst in a recycled water main has led to recycled water being released into Kororoit Creek North, near Diggers Rest.

Western Water is asking people to avoid contact with the water in the creek, which was dry prior to the burst.

The burst, near Townsings Road, has now been repaired. Recycled water customers who were affected will soon have their supply fully restored.

The burst was detected after a recycled water customer found their supply had stopped.

Western Water estimates about two million litres of recycled water has been released into the creek over a period of about 24 hours.

Melbourne Water and the EPA were quickly notified of the burst.

Western Water will carry out water quality testing in the creek and surrounding area, including nearby dams, to assess any impact the burst may have had.
