Water supply change in Lancefield this summer

10 December 2018

Western Water is preparing for an expected rise in water use this summer.

We use multiple water sources to supply Lancefield. Having access to these supplies ensures we can meet customer demand and cater for a growing population.

Currently, 100% of Lancefield's drinking water comes from Garden Hut Reservoir. To prepare for the expected rise in water use this summer, we will soon reintroduce up to 30% bore water in the water supply.

Western Water has added bore water to Lancefield’s water supply during dry times for many years. It is a standard approach designed to make the most of local water supplies.

Customers may notice a slight change to the taste of their water when the change occurs. All drinking water is filtered and treated at the Lancefield water filtration plant to meet Australian Drinking Water Guidelines before it is piped to customers.

Western Water will continue to monitor reservoir levels and water usage in Lancefield and adjust the supply system as needed.
