Water supply changes in the Macedon Ranges

8 November 2018

Western Water customers in the Macedon Ranges may soon notice a change in their drinking water as several towns switch their supply source.

Drinking water for the following towns will soon come from Rosslynne Reservoir (near Gisborne) instead of the Melbourne supply system:

  • Gisborne
  • New Gisborne
  • Gisborne South
  • Riddells Creek
  • Macedon
  • Mount Macedon.

Some customers in these towns may notice a slight change in the taste of their water from mid-November. It's normal to notice the change when switching from one supply source to another.

The drinking water supplied by Western Water is high quality, safe and meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.

The water supply for other Macedon Ranges towns remain unchanged. Romsey and Lancefield will continue to source their water from local supplies, which includes bore and reservoir water. Woodend’s water is sourced from local reservoirs.
