Western Water Development Forum

4 July 2018

Western Water last week held its Development Forum to update the sector on growth, pricing and development-related subjects in our service region.

The forum, held at Melton’s Tabcorp Park, was attended by industry representatives, including developers, development consultants and town planners.

The forum featured several presentations: an update on Western Water’s new Development Servicing Plans; Price Determination 2018; our pricing approach to New Customer Contributions; and an overview of the Integrated Water Management planning approach.

The Development Forum is an annual event, with the first forum held in 2015.

General Manager Capital Program and Delivery, Robert Murphy said Western Water is “working with developers and local government to ensure the appropriate water and sewer solutions are in place across all new developments.”

“It’s estimated that 50 new families are moving into our service region each week, so we’ve been investing significantly in capital works to support these growing communities,” he said.

“We are investing $60 million this financial year and are projected to spend $364 million in the next five years. This is a massive investment for a small water corporation, such as ours.”
