New sewer main - Jacksons Hill, Sunbury

1 February 2012

Western Water will be constructing a new rising sewer main in Jacksons Hill, to cater for population growth.

Why is a new sewer main required?
Western Water is aware that the sewerage system in Jacksons Hill is not operating as effectively as expected and that increased residential growth in the area will further stretch its capacity.

Construction of a new rising sewer main will provide an improved sewerage service to Jacksons Hill residents and will also ensure that growth in the region is catered for well into the future. The route of the new pipeline is shown in red on the map below.

How will Jacksons Hill residents be affected?
It is expected that there will be minimal disruption to residents during construction. Some residents may experience increased traffic noise, however all construction work will be undertaken on council property adjoining the Jackson Hill estate. No construction will occur on private properties.

Western Water will be working closely with their contractors to ensure any potential disruptions to residential customers are kept to a minimum.

Construction of the sewer main is anticipated to commence in early 2012, taking around four months to complete.

How much will it cost?
Western Water will be investing approximately $1million into this project, with the aim of providing our existing customers with a more effective sewerage system, whilst being capable of sustaining the anticipated growth in the region for the next 10 - 15 years.

Experienced contractors will be employed to ensure the project is delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
