New Connections and Alterations

There are simple procedures to follow to apply for new connections or alterations to existing connections to Western Water's sewerage, water and/or recycled water networks:

New Connections

Before you can connect to the Western Water sewerage, water and/or recycled water networks you must obtain permission from Western Water.

To help with your application, please consider the following important points:

  • If you are requesting to connect to the sewer system, your application must contain a site plan and floor plan.
  • If the property is not yet titled, you must provide Western Water with a plan of subdivision number. Western Water cannot approve new connections without a council-approved subdivision.
  • When you lodge your application you must also include all relevant documentation and the application fee (below). Your application cannot be processed without this.
  • Applications can take up to 10 working days to process.

Backflow prevention

Generally, commerical and industrial properties require a backflow prevention device to be installed directly after the water meter to protect Western Water's water reticulation network against contamination.

Backflow prevention devices need to be installed and maintained on an ongoing basis and in accordance to plumbing regulations. A registered plumber should be used to install and maintain the device.

To advise Western Water of the type of device installed at your property, complete a  Backflow Prevention Device Installation form (40 Kb) and return it to Western Water. No Western Water charges apply.
