Small changes to your water use and the water fittings in your home can save thousands of litres of water each year and significantly reduce your water and energy bills. You may be eligible for one of our subsidised programs to help you to achieve those savings.
If your household is currently using more than 155 litres of water per person per day you are over Target 155. The WaterTight program is designed to help. Western Water’s licensed and experienced WaterTight plumber will visit your home to assess your water use and provide water saving products and services valued at $180.
Western Water contributes $100 towards the cost of each WaterTight visit. A State Government Water Conservation Audit Rebate provides another $50 so the net cost to you is only $30.
Where appropriate to your property, a WaterTight visit includes:
- Leak identification and minor leak repair
- Advice on rainwater tanks, grey water systems and other water efficient appliances
- Comprehensive assessment of your water use
- A personalised report recommending opportunities for further water savings.
Your WaterTight visit also includes up to $50 worth of water saving retrofitting, which may include:
- Water efficient showerhead/s supplied and installed
- Flow controllers supplied and installed on taps
- Toilet cistern controller/s supplied and installed.
Save even more water and money by improving the efficiency of your toilet/s. You may be eligible for a State Government Dual-Flush Toilet Rebate of $50.
Western Water recommends that you combine the Toilet Upgrade Program with a WaterTight plumber’s visit to maximise your water and money savings.
Our licensed and experienced plumber will assess your situation and provide you with options, which may include:
- Cistern controller installation - included in a WaterTight visit.
- Valve replacement - included in a WaterTight visit.
- Cistern replacement (from $280 fully installed).
- Full toilet replacement (from $360 fully installed).
For replacement options, a four-star dual flush cistern will be installed and the State Government's Water Smart Gardens and Homes Rebate of $50 is available. The rebate is limited to one per property.
Water Wise is a joint initiative of the State Government (Department of Human Services) and Western Water.
To be eligible for the free WaterWise program, you must:
- Hold a current concession card (Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card, or a Department of Veteran’s Affairs Pension Card or a Gold Card)
