Western Water customers in Romsey and Lancefield may soon notice a change in their drinking water.
With local supplies reducing over the summer months, the drinking water for these towns will soon be topped up with water from Rosslynne Reservoir near Gisborne. In addition, the local bore in Lancefield will be temporarily switched off.
When the supply change occurs, you may notice a slight change in the taste of your water. All drinking water will remain completely safe to drink.
Unlike local water sources, water from Rosslynne Reservoir is fluoridated, in line with Department of Health and Human Services requirements.
If customers have questions about water fluoridation they can call the department’s Water Unit on 1300 761 874.
Having access to multiple water supply sources ensures Western Water can manage water supplies when inflows are low and meet demand from the growing population.
