We are upgrading the existing sewer pump station in Rotary Park.
Status: Under construction
Expected Completion Date: April 2021
Construction involved works mostly within the pump station and only minor works outside.
Contractor Steve Standen Drainage Pty Ltd is carrying out the work on our behalf. Work hours are 7.30am–5.30pm Monday to Friday.
Why is this project needed?
This upgrade caters for increased sewage flows due to growth in the area and will result in a more efficient sewer system.
The project will provide provides many benefits:
- greater operational flexibility of the sewer network and of the Gisborne Recycled Water Plant
- reduced risk of asset failure ensuring uninterrupted service to customers, lower energy consumption, resulting in a reduction in the carbon footprint.
Works during the coronavirus (COVID-19)
In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19), workers on outdoor sites will ensure they are at least 1.5m apart from each other at all times. This is in line with social distancing guidelines adopted by the construction industry and consistent with advice provided to the community.
Will my services be affected by the sewer main works?
No, we don’t anticipate any interruption to water supply or sewerage services.
What impacts can I expect during construction?
During works, vehicle access to Kilmore Road will be maintained for most of the time. There will be an increase in truck movements for a short period and may result in minor disruptions to traffic flow.
Pedestrian access to the walking path will be maintained while the worksite will remain fenced off during construction.
Some noise can also be expected from the operation of machinery. This will occur during daytime.
Fencing, barricades and trench covers may be used near the work site to ensure public safety.
What factors do we consider when planning a project?
Several factors influence our project planning. These include environmental and geotechnical impacts, cultural heritage, specialist investigations (such as a biodiversity assessment), population forecasts, location of other underground services (e.g. electricity, phone/internet, gas lines) and accessibility.
Consideration of future infrastructure in the area, such as major roads and drainage scheme infrastructure is pivotal to our planning along with advice from key stakeholders such as Macedon Ranges Shire Council
