Water
We use a number of water sources to ensure we can meet local demand even when inflows are low.
Riddells Creek’s water can be sourced from:
- Rosslynne Reservoir, near Gisborne, and treated at the Rosslynne Water Filtration Plant, and
- the Melbourne supply system.

Sewage
Riddells Creek’s sewage is treated at the Riddells Creek Recycled Water Plant to the east of town.
Recycled water
Riddells Creek Recycled Water Plant produces Class C recycled water.
The recycled water is used to irrigate local farms, sportsfields, large gardens and recreation areas.
Western Water has a licence to discharge excess recycled water volumes to Jacksons Creek under strict conditions set by the Environment Protection Authority.
Projects and planned works
Steady population growth is expected for Riddells Creek. We'll update this page in the future with projects and works which cater for population growth and ensure we remain compliant with relevant legislation and standards
