We use a number of water sources to ensure we can meet local demand even when inflows are low.
Woodend’s water can be sourced from:
- local reservoirs including Campaspe Reservoir, Graham Brock Reservoir, Reservoir C and other Mount Macedon reservoirs. This water is treated at local water filtration plants and is not fluoridated
- Rosslynne Reservoir, near Gisborne, treated at Rosslynne Water Filtration Plant (fluoridated)
- the Melbourne supply system (fluoridated)

Woodend’s sewage is treated at the Woodend Recycled Water Plant, north of town.
The Woodend Recycled Water Plant produces Class C recycled water.
This recycled water is used to irrigate local farms, sportsfields, large gardens and recreation areas.
Western Water has a licence to discharge excess recycled water volumes to Five Mile Creek under strict conditions set by the Environment Protection Authority.
