Greater Western Water > previously known as Western Water > and City West Water >
Navigating your new websiteWestern Water will be carrying out routine maintenance on the drinking water mains in Bacchus Marsh, Darley and Maddingley.
The works involves flushing the network to remove any build-up of natural sediment in the pipes. This natural sediment is harmless but removing it will result in a cleaner water for customers in these towns.
To ensure the mains are cleaned effectively, a small amount of chlorine will be added to the water supply during the works.
At all times, we will ensure the water we provide meets the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and is safe to drink.
The works are scheduled to begin 5 July and will continue for up to 12 weeks.
The water supply will not be turned off during the works, however customers may notice a change to the taste and odour of their drinking water during the cleaning period.
The chlorination process is safe for humans but can be toxic to fish. Please seek advice from a pet store or aquarium specialist if you have any concerns.
If you notice cloudy or discoloured water, please turn on your front garden tap until it clears, or for up to 5 minutes.
