Macedon and Mount Macedon

Macedon and Mount Macedon are located in the Macedon Ranges, more than 60km north of Melbourne.

We use a number of water sources to ensure we can meet local demand even when inflows are low.

Macedon and Mount Macedon’s water can be sourced from:

  • Rosslynne Reservoir, near Gisborne, and treated at the Rosslynne Water Filtration Plant, and
  • the Melbourne supply system.

Macedon and Mount Macedon’s sewage is treated at the Gisborne Recycled Water Plant.

Recycled water

Gisborne Recycled Water Plant produces Class B recycled water.

The recycled water is used to irrigate local farms, sports fields and recreation areas.

Greater Western Water has a licence to discharge excess recycled water volumes to Jacksons Creek under strict conditions set by the Environment Protection Authority.
